Trionfi for Prangsta by Ellen Rogers
i feel like all joffrey needed was to get turned into a llama for a while
eeeeeh i’ll admit he did say some things that made me go ???????, like when he said “yes and no” to the “was it rape?” question. like, you can’t say that, rape is rape, there’s no ambivalence there. but people also need to understand we are more exposed to social commentary than these actors are, in a way we are more educated and have a more sophisticated sensitivity about it. they are not subjected to the ongoing conversation about these themes, and sometimes someone will say something that we righteously side-eye, but that doesn’t mean he was being an apologist. i think chances are he doesn’t know what is at stake here, how much bigger this issue is, and the ripercussions it’s going to have on the show and people’s opinion of it. he does wear a bit of shipper’s goggles, because he knows it was a violent act but he also sees it as passionate (he did use the word, back in an interview before the thing even aired, he said it was a “dark encounter but passionate”) so i think he doesn’t quite grasp the gravity of it. but not because of apologism, i think he wants to believe this was an act of love more than anything. he also doesn’t read the books, so it’s very important, when judging an actor that has not read the books, to remember that these people are fed whatever producers want them to say. plus, he said something that is very important to me, i don’t have the exact quote handy but he did say it took him quite a while to process it and wrap his head around it, so i take it as legit confusion over the scene, as subtle a way to say it that might be, and how it didn’t fit what he thought of jaime. but yeah actors in general need to weigh their words more careful because they say dumb things without being malicious, but they’re still dumb.
ok but before u unfollow me we gotta do a duet of ‘gotta go my own way’ sorry i dont make the rules
